What we show
Yardline shows race results that are already published by race organisers and timing companies: runners' names, nationality (as published), and how many yards they completed. We don't publish ages, contact details, or anything not already in the public results.
What we store about visitors
- No accounts and no tracking cookies.
- The runners you follow are saved in your own browser (local storage), not on our server. To check on them, your browser asks us for those runners' public results every couple of minutes while the site is open, just like opening their pages; we don't record who follows whom.
- If you submit a results link, we keep the link (and any note you add). To stop spam, your IP address is held in memory until an hour after your last submission; it is never written to disk.
- We don't keep access logs of the pages you visit. Our hosting provider may keep standard network logs (IP address, time) for security, for a limited time.
- If visitor statistics are switched on, they use a cookie-free, privacy-friendly service that doesn't identify you.
- When you click a sponsor's card, we add one to that sponsor's click count and send you on to their site. We don't record who clicked: sponsors only ever get totals. Sponsor logos come from our own server, so showing them tells the sponsor nothing about you.
Other sites your browser contacts
- OpenStreetMap (or the map provider named on the map): map images on the Races page.
- bigsbackyardultra.com: race logos shown on race pages come from the official race listing.
- Links to timing sites, registration pages and livestreams only contact those sites if you click them.
- The "Support Yardline" link, where shown, goes to our page on a tipping service, which has its own privacy policy. If you send a tip, it tells us the name and message you choose to give, so we can say thanks; none of it goes on this site.
Like any website, these see your IP address when your browser loads something from them.
Removing your name
If you'd rather your name didn't appear on Yardline, email team@yardline.run with the races it appears in. We'll hide your profile and show your results as "Name withheld" (yard counts stay, so other runners' places don't change). We'll also tell you where the original results are published, since we can't change the source.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR) you can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to it being shown. Contact team@yardline.run.
